According to Al-Jazeera’s website, the Israeli High Court of Justice has decided not to ban targeted killings against Palestinians by Israelis. (See article on Israel’s failure to ban targeted killings)
This ruling will help, according to a senior Israeli jurist, military commanders avoid war crimes lawsuits that have been filed abroad. Also, the ruling said that it cannot be proven that all targeted killings were against international law while also saying that such attacks are not always legal.
While some terrorist targets have been killed as a result of these targeted killings, many innocent bystanders have died as a result of these attacks as well. The Palestinians have called these attacks “assassination” and that “it is unbecoming of a nation state”, referring to Israel.
